Texas Legislation Changes or Discontinues Fixed Annuity Products

Changes Taking Effect Thursday April 1, 2010

As a result of Texas House Bill 1919 which passed in 2009 and effective as of June 1, 2010 certain Fixed and Fixed Indexed Annuities will no longer be available in the State of Texas.

Texas will no longer allow the sale of Fixed or Fixed Indexed annuities with surrender periods longer than 9 years or a surrender percentage higher than 9 percent.

Because of these changes many companies have discontinued the sale of certain Texas products effective April 1, 2010.
